The FitzWilliam Family | Extended Family Beach Session | Alabama Family Photographer

The FitzWilliam’s Extended Family Beach Session was the perfect example of “the more the merrier.” They brought over 20 family members to the session—challenge accepted! I actually photographed this crew years ago at the beach, so it was really cool to reconnect with everyone. Funnily enough, both of our sessions were at risk of getting rained out, and it even started storming on my way to meet the family in Orange Beach this time around. Somehow, both times, the skies cleared just before the session began. Talk about meant to be!

Photographing multiple generations together is always especially meaningful, so I was really glad grandparents Sandy and Jerry could be part of this session. They’re truly the heart of the family, and it’s easy to see how loved they are by all their kids and grandkids. Whenever I work with a large family like this, I make sure to capture plenty of shots of the full group before moving on to photos of individual families, couples, siblings, and any other groupings they’d like. I’m also constantly snapping candid moments so I can document all the silly, sweet, and heartfelt interactions as they happen in real time.
