I’m sharing my five go-to color schemes for family photos to spark some outfit inspiration before your next session! 5 Gorgeous Color Schemes for Family Photos
Inspired by my beachy hometown in South Alabama, this palette is all about staying soft and neutral with creams, ivories, and khakis. Sandy beiges are incredibly versatile and create a beautiful foundation for your outfits. You can keep things simple by mixing similar shades for a timeless, minimalist aesthetic, or incorporate subtle pops of color (like pastel blues or muted pinks) for some variety.
Desert yellows remind me of my favorite stargazing spot in Joshua Tree National Park and are such a gorgeous option for family photos. The muted, golden tones feel warm and earthy without overwhelming the image. They pair effortlessly with beige, sage green, warm brown, and dusty blue hues for a rich, balanced look that photographs beautifully.
This palette draws from the range of colors you’ll find in the mountains: sage, olive, hunter, and pine. Greens are perfect for creating a natural, grounded vibe and work especially well in outdoor settings. They’re also easy to style with other neutrals, making them a top choice for a cohesive aesthetic that isn’t overly matchy.
Rainy days are my favorite because they’re cozy, calm, and relaxing, which is exactly the mood this palette brings. Picture shades of dusty blue, soft denim, and slate, with the occasional brighter blue mixed in. These picks complement creams, greens, muted yellows, and even light pinks for a touch of warmth.
Everyone loves a good sunset moment, and this palette captures those whimsical, romantic colors that fill the sky just before the sun dips below the horizon. Skip neon pinks and opt for peachy blush, dreamy lavender, and dusky mauve instead. They work beautifully as accents, adding a subtle pop that feels both playful and timeless.
These family photo color schemes will have your whole crew looking fabulous. Reach out now to schedule a Family Session with me!
