Matt + Patti | Surprise Proposal at Steelwood Country Club | AL Engagement Photographer

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I wanted to share one of my favorite recent Couple Sessions: Matt and Patti’s surprise proposal. Matt reached out a month in advance to enlist my help capturing the moment he proposed to Patti. Since he wanted to keep the proposal a surprise, we hatched a plan to tell Patti that I wanted to photograph her and Matt to get some new couple photos for my website and portfolio.

We set the date, and the big day soon rolled around. I started Matt and Patti’s Engagement Session with a few simple couple poses so she wouldn’t suspect anything. Then, I gave Matt our secret cue to get in position, and he dropped down on one knee. When Patti turned around and saw him with the ring, she was shocked and SO excited! Many happy tears were shed as the two shared some special moments celebrating their engagement.

That wasn’t the only surprise—Matt went above and beyond to plan an engagement party at Steelwood Country Club with their friends and family. Patti was beaming as she showed off her rock, and the whole day was full of laughter and joy. I’m so honored Matt trusted me to help him plan and document this sweet surprise!
